she thought to herself cunning, deception?Sure hope that isn't the only rank there is to join she joked to herself. The conversation was coming to an end, and Giselle figured it'd be to her benefit to make an impression. If she was going to have time to speak to the alphess she was going to have to be a little more assertive, especially with more bodies appearing every minute. "There is room, for those willing to work for their keep" said the alphess loudly to the gathering of wolves that had by now surrounded her. Giselle stood and took a step forward, dipping her head slightly in respect before beginning to speak, "Perhaps then there is room for me?" she began to speak cautiously. "My name is Giselle, and if you've got room for one who's swift, stealthy, and eager then you have found your wolf" she continued, head still dropped slightly in modesty. "I will also stay devoted to those whom I find merit such loyalty." she finished. [/blockquote][/ul]

I am not lazy, Artemis called out as she got up from her spot. Looks like she had been discovered. I am simply observing from a distance. She walked up to the older female confidently. Now that she knew that the other wasn’t dangerous or a threat, she was comfortable and could let down her guard. There were other wolves around, besides the one she was talking to, but somehow she felt safe. She watched as she approached another female wolf ask the one who had talked to her to join her pack.
She did say if I wanted to join I could stack my claim. It has been such a long time since I’ve been in a pack and I am getting quite lonely, Artemis thought. She waited until the two other female wolves were done talking. Once they were done, she sat in front of the other wolf and respectfully looked at her. I ask to join your pack. I have much to bring to your pack and would very much like to be part of one after such a long time, she asked respectfully. She waited patiently for the older female wolf’s answer to her query.

His face was calm as it could be for the scar that marred it as he waited quietly for her to get finished with her latest charge. The alphess was busy this night, he reasoned, wondering if she actually needed anymore wolves or if there were already many. A popular pack was a good place, true, but only if one got in early. There would be no spots and no respects to those that came last. He'd consider these, he decided, when he spoke to her. He was a little anxious, thought hat didn't show on his face or his body. Kerr wasn't going to let anyone know he was having a bit of a weak moment. It was his chance to get into a pack and honestly? If she told him no and that she didn't want him around it'd hurt. Cus, like, he was a male, not a stone. He had an ego that was way bigger than it should be - something he could readily admit. It was a solid blow right in that smartass part of himself that said he could get into anything. Not that he couldn't if he set his mind to convincing her otherwise. That was always the kicker. He could do it; wheedle his way in. But he didn't want to do that. It was puppish. And if she didn't think him good for the pack then he'd find a much better home in another one or on his own. He'd at least get the lay of the land and be able to find his way around. He was unwilling to roam about aimlessly and hope to happen upon another pack. He wouldn't say his small catch of the alphess' description of the other packs sounded promising, but it was better than nothing. Kerr was okay saying he was a pack wolf. Nothin' wrong with that.
He straightened a little more, ears quivering forward as she spoke once again and the two wrapped up. She - Abyssal? - received a position as Crow - what exactly was that? - and he knew it was almost his turn. His breath misted in front of him in the chilly air and he rose to his paws as the alphess turned to look at the rest. Or rather, his rump lifted out of the snow. But another female stepped out of the trees, a new comer, and spoke up. His ears twitched with amusement. Not a moment's rest for the darling female. The wolf that had remained sedate also approached and then yet another one. His nostrils flared, surprise lighting his eyes. There were many females here. He wondered if it was a matriarchal pack. Not that he had a problem with females, but the last time he'd fun across on of those they'd been abusive to males. He narrowed his eyes, muscles shifting as he cautioned himself but he didn't move. He'd get an impression on the pack with a direct conversation with the female. He turned his head, watching the latest wolf and then blinked in surprise. She looked just like himself. There fur was the same, their patterns. If she hadn't been smaller, daintier with her eyes brown instead of green they'd be twins. As it was, they looked very much like siblings. He snorted, turning away and taking in the small white female that had finally settled on approaching. He held in a chuckle at her words. Trust a jab to the ego to get a wolf off its butt.
He straightened and stepped forward with one paw, presenting a solid front of his body. He lifted his head confidently meeting her eyes a split second before shifting his gaze slightly to the right of the alphess's. He smiled lightly, allowing the amusement to cast his features in a pleasant light. Or, he hoped it did. The scar stretch and let the skin smooth out on his lips. Not so gruesome now. "I was going to give you a breather, madame, but I see that would be a waste. I'd be sitting her all day with the crowd you're getting." His words were light, lined with an understanding of the good such a crowd presented. He shifted his weight, doing the same eye-meet-then-away that allowed him to show both confidence and respect. And keep a watchful eye on her movements. You never knew with strangers. He cleared his throat, the sound harsh in the moment of silence. "I am called Kerrighor, and a seek a place in your pack primarily, just like them" he said. He gestured slightly with his muzzle, teeth flashing briefly in humor. He cocked his head, awaiting an answer. Now was the time for just seeing what the female had to say. She was pretty, and seemed strong to him for her size. She also had a nice was of talking. A smooth, confident drawl that told the loners how things would be done. he appreciated it. There was nothing Kerr disliked more than chaos or a leader that couldn't lead.

The female who approached next introduced herself as Giselle. She was lightly built, with dusty, warm tones that would provide camouflage better in summer or autumn, that the stark grey, white and black palette of winter in Kyrkja. ”Welcome, Giselle. Warriors whose strengths lie in speed, agility, and quick thought rather than brute strength or deception are best suited for the Wildcat rank. How does that sound?” She spoke quickly to the female, then cast her eyes at the white fea who now approached.
”I’m not lazy, I am simply observing from a distance,” She said, sauntering up. Zatenya smirked. While others had sat near the fringes, ears, eyes, and posture alert, this fea’s body language had communicated little but weariness. She continued forward, confidence in her steps, and Zatenya rose to a fuller height as the girl went on about her abilities. ”I didn’t ask for an excuse.” She said shortly, glancing around her, before locking eyes back at the white she-wolf. ”You have much to bring us? Please, do tell.” Her words were less abrupt, less irritated now. She could forgive the girl one slip-up, if she earned that forgiveness. The white pelted female’s words had held a respectful tone the second time she spoke, and this smoothed Zatenya’s annoyance somewhat. "Also, your name, please."
One of the waiting wolves – the male – decided to approach. He’d been watching for some time, with keen interest, before something sparked him to come closer and engage himself. He was well built, she noticed – tall, but not so lanky as to lack strength. There was a balance and measure to his stride that spoke of quiet force.
As he spoke, she offered him a nod – it was interesting to see the different approaches made by different individuals. His was casual, but respectful – it was apparent that beneath his relaxed air, there was thought behind each action – a knowledge of societal norms, so to speak. Zatenya took a quiet breath, thinking, before she spoke in return. ”Welcome, Kerrighor. I am Zatenya, leader of the Raekerin pack. Strength and resolve are valued highly here – the vast majority of our members are fighters of one sort or another. Tell me, how is it you might serve?”
