Z. e l u n i k
Name: Zelunik Nickname(s): Zel, Zelly (Only by close friends) Age: 2 Gender: Female Pack: Fjordsong Rank: Betess
Appearance: Zelunik was built for speed, one can see it in her lean legs and taunt shoulder muscles. She is petit and lean wolf. Compared to the eastern grey wolves and other northern species she's a midget. A midget not to underestimated. As a once lone healer she's had to perfect gentle but firm holds on wolves and has had to run from those who wish to enslave her.
By no means is Zelunik the exceptional snowy or ebony beauty, favored by most males. Her black, red, and white hued body carries the scars of her past, which are many. Though most of the battle scars have been healed over and hidden beneath the thick coat. The attactive feature of Zelunik is her face. Narrowed and tapered beautifully, she has an intellegent and stern stare. She is a decendent of mexican grey wolves that excaped from the zoos during the Change. There they were trying to cope with their cousins the natural wolves that were used to the snowy mountains and trails. So Zel does not have the traditional beauty of the northern wolves. Some find her an exotic beauty others find her ugly.
Don't let her size full you. Zelunik's small form and quick movements make her one to dart under a beast and rip his or her stomach out, with exceptionally strong jaws. She prides herself on her lean frame. Techniqually she had learned the fight or flight responses. It's something as life as a wanderer has taught her. Be quicker than your oppenet or you might not get another chance to defend yourself. Her presence may not be a big one but when meeting her she leaves quite an impact. Her bright eyes show a deep intelligence and soft voice can calm frightened pups and wolves.
Picture: ZEL
Personality: Soft, soft sweet tones captivate even the hardest of souls. Calming panicking wolves and gently coaxing the silliest of pups to take some aweful medicine or hold still while she checks them over. Her personality is that of sunshine on a winters day. She knows pain and death like the coming of a sharp bitter wind but she brings a soothing warmth that can lessen the bite. Her poweress lays with her healing abilities, though she is a wolf, she is also an understanding wolf. She can heal not only physical wounds but mental ones as well. She takes a battered soul and cradles it to her and suckles it's pain away, sometimes having to make it worse before she and her charge can allow the rot and pain to melt away. It makes her unliked but loved.
Zelunik has a firm but gentle paw. As rule when she was a traveling healer, she would not heal a wolf unlessthey gave their permission. She believes that if a wolf wants to pass to the Beyond she will not stop them, or feels she cannot stop them. It saves heartache and emotionial attachment. Though wolves that agree will have to put up with her until she deems them able to live, if not cured. Though her mentor had taught her to never get personal with her patients she grieves those she cannot save. She holds each of them to her. Maybe because she knows she's infertile.
The she wolf will never bear pups. The spirits gave her a gift at healing and giving life and even been the den mother to pregnant wolves helping them give birth, but she will never carry a pup on her own. She will forever be barren. It makes her bitter and it makes her usual soft and peaceful demenor, a bite harsh and not as soft as she'd like to be. Though if she is given a healing job she will go to it, actually like a sixth sense she knows where she is needed and for now she feels as if the Fjordsong Pack will need a healer for probably a more permanent time, as long as the Alpha understands that she is a healer whether titled or not and she will heal loners and pack members that need it.
History: Zelunik lay in some soft lavender licking her hide with a mint and saliva poultice she'd made. It cleaned and numbed wounds plus the scent of lavender clamed her frazzled nerves. She had recieved a particularaly nasty bite from a patient, she could not help that she had to reset his hind leg. Though she healed him and his pack paid her in rabbits meat and she was left to wander off again.
The Healer they called her. If a wolf pack needed her while she was passing through or if the healer of the pack needed assistance she was there. Some how and she did not question it, she knew exactly where she was needed. She counted it as a blessing from the Spirits and moved on. Still her old master and the blind seer's raven taught her all she needed to know about healing. Zel sniffed, why did she have to think about the old witch now? She sighed and closed her eyes to sleep and had a . . . dream? No it was a memory of how she become who she was.
~Two years earlier~
"Zelunik!" the powerful voice was cracked and dry as fallen leaves, though it had a snap to it. Zel as a young wolf could not help but flinch as the seer padded into the cave. She was left with the old wise wolf six months ago by her parents after they witnessed her gift for healing. "Child, why must you go through my herbs and organize them, I like it a mess young one."
Humor was there and Zelunik relaxed. The old she wolf that came into the small cave was known in her territory as Baba Barsha, charged all her tellings and healings with meat. Once she was a travelling healer until her eyesight failed. Though her years as a loner was very evident in her looks. Her eyes which once were a vibrant green, one was now nothing more than an empty socket, which poured pus every now and then, the other was clouded over with a milky film. The fur which once was a gorgeous grey was now patched and falling out tufts of it barely sticking on. The skin of her pads were cracked and sometimes bled if she walked. Her teeth were yellowed and cracked, some were missing. How the she wolf survived surprised even her parents until they saw the crow. This wolf was a seer and for her services she charged for meat. Baba Barsha was a strange wolf but she was reveered as a good seer. It kept her stomach full when she herself could not. Plus the carrion bird, Tskar, who followed her made sure that they were not with out food.
"Baba B," Zel's tail wagged happily at her mentors teasing. Dispite the wizzened old wolf's appearance, Zel knew a beautiful heart rested in the she-wolfs chest. "I know, but some of us still learning like to know which is which."
They laughed Zel's tones soft and musical, and very soothing. The old she wolf grinned, "when I was that young if I had your voice, child, I would sing to the world. But of course now my throat is too old and feeble to even give a good howl."
The wolves laughed again. The crow ruffled his fathers and clacked his beak. The laughted stopped and the medicine wolf sighed. "Yes Tskar, I believe it is time for me to rest these tired bones."
Tskar hopped happily to his master and they curled up in the den in the back. Zelunik knew her master did not have much time left. She was to pass to the Spirits soon. The old wolf had wished Zel gone by then. She should have left nights ago. She turned to busy herself continuing to lick her wound. She left to go hunt door mice.
A few hours later she happily padded back into the cave. Her mouth full of mice for the three of them. She heard the tick, tick of Tskar's claws on the stone. "Tskar, I've got meat for us," she spoke as she dropped her prey.
Tskar the old crow hopped to the entrance of the cave and then turned to Zel. The old crow cawed once and then spoke for the first time to her, "Zelunik, daughter of Nula and Jaquin, you are here by The Healer, go, your master is going to the Spirits you must not be here. Leave now."
Zel pressed her ears to her skull and tucked her tail. Her mind went blank. Shouldn't she have a bird for her own before she left? Birds and wolves usually did not come together. Tskar was rare that he could speak wolf. Birds themselves had ways like a wolf. Tskar clacked his beak and hissed as she took a step forward. She wanted to tell her master good bye. Even though she knew that's not was Baba B wiould want that's what Zelunik wanted.
The crow flew at her his feathers ruffled. For the first time and aimed for her eye. He screeched and came at her again. The bird the only being Baba B wanted near her when she passed. Zel yelped as the claws made contact with her ear and she ran out of the cave scared.
Only a year old and she was abandoned again. She ran fast not stopping till she was far away from the caves and let out a mournful howl. Her mentor was gone, her parents were gone and she was left alone. Her luck was that there was no bird friend to choose her either. Though her teacher did leave her with the knowledge of herbs she would not forget. She padded away her knowledge the only thing that she had with her.
Roleplay Example: (I can and will make longer posts depending on if I start the rp and what people respond back to me)
This tree, this powerful guardian of the forest was at least one of the reasons that the Gods exsited. One could walk in these forests and know that this mighty face was watching you. Wondering what you were doing here, and like a guardian send challenges your way. Though by the smells around and near the tree this place was not unfriendly to wolves, another reason he figured that it could only be the work of the Gods. Gabriel grinned to himself proof enough. He did not know the wolfess next to him well enough to laugh and say, well I'm not the wolf who's freaking out. Instead he shrugged a big shoulder and moved away from the tree.
Gabriel studied the she wolf in front of him. She was small, but not without muscle, she had to be fast. Hmm, maybe she could stick aroud for a while?, he thought to himself, two wolves hunting was damn better than one. He dropped his front paws in a universal sign of a good streach. He came forward a bit his big body pulling out all sorts of cricks and knots in his back. Then stood in a wolfishly fast move and shook his pelt as if he was shaking water off. It was stall, maybe he was showing off his muscle, and he had plently, or maybe he was just using it to think of how in the world he was going to get the fae to stay with him a while. Especially when it seemed like she was still a little spooked at the supernatrual beings. Though he was glad to see that fear was becoming anger, she was brave dispite her fears.
Gabe wagged his tail back and turned his head to the side. He was about to ask and then her stomach growled. Perfect they could go hunting. There was a patch of forest not far from the tree food could be plentiful. Though he had to tease her just a little. He suddenly made his face become very serious. "Hmmm?" he seemed to ponder as he padded closer to Tulari. Keeping personal boundaries he did a quick circle around, 'nice tail' he kept the male thought to himself and kept his face serious. He was glad she was pretty, he'd had UGLY wolves travel with him before and when they took his kindess for him chosing them for mates, inwardly he cringed but he came to face her. "You M'lady are fast. Correct?"
The seriousness melted away from his face and he grinned happily. "If you can help me single out a sick deer or whatever prey is in this area and do the chasing? I'll ambush it and then we'll have us a feast! Anyways a hungry wolf is a deadly wolf." It was an anphorism of his sisters, when he was so depressed after his families deaths he did not want to eat she finally coaxed him out of his lethargic and pitiful state and he was able to become the strong warrior he was now. Though all it was up to now what the lovely fae in front of him if they were to go hunting or not, her stomach was probably going to choose the hunting part. Gabriel just kept his face pleasant and tail wagging, he was friendly not big and scary and he was happy that this female decided not to challege him. Instead he could feel that this was going to be an OK friendship at worst and good friends at best. Worry about future later, Gabe, he thought to himself, right now let's get some food, the lady is starving.
