Tonight was under perfect conditions, minus the frigid cold winds and sparse winter clouds that drifted across the night sky. At least they moved quickly and not achingly slow – Requiem like the sky to be as cloudless as possible when he went stargazing. Usually it ended up being the opposite, with a ton of clouds guarding the stars as if they were afraid the white male would pick them off the black canvas and eat them or something stupid. Nature always had a curious personality; sometimes he liked it, other times he was utterly annoyed by it.
As he climbed the side of the rather tall hill, dark claws piercing the earth to maintain a grip along the icy path. If it were spring the grass covering the hill would be very lush and soft. However it was winter, the least enjoyable season of the year, and ice sheathed every blade of grass so thick and sharply that it could slice a pad if one stepped on it wrong. His large paws crushed every ice casing they collided with, like they were half melted and in that very fragile stage of changing over to spring. Even if he did get a cut on his pad it’s not like it would hurt him at all. He’s been through much worse than a stupid little cut. Stargazing was a passion of his and he’d have to be completely decapitated for anything to hinder his moment with the heavens.
The climb wasn’t tough in the least bit. The wind fingered through his colorless coat, sometimes it felt like a gelid massage, and howled through the trees surrounding the hill and whispered silent requests into his ears. Of course he ignored them, he wasn’t here for the wind. Every time he lifted a paw, claws coming with, a bit of compacted dirt ripped away from the earth carelessly and effortlessly. The scent of evergreen trees never left his nostrils, which was fine by him. The smell calmed him. After several more seconds he reached the top and studied the area briefly for a nice place to sit. The trees were almost inexistent and it was a peculiar sight to him. He discarded the thought quickly though, and walked to the middle of the hill where there seemed to be the least iced-over ground, and reclined upon the earth.
Tilting his head back, his dark sapphire eyes became instantly focused on the swirls of stars floating in the sky, the sight reflecting in his eyes. He was pleased with how little clouds there suddenly were. They must have known he was coming. Despite the moon lacking its usual brightness, the stars glowed to their fullest potential; so luminous that Requiem would swear their radiance alone would take to his pelt to cast its own dim gleam. Treetops surrounding his hill reached so high up that they could almost touch the celestial bodies, though fell short. The stars, feeling bad for the trees, sprinkled some of their stardust upon them, setting the scene ablaze with illumination.
The white fiend could only wonder how many of his family members were up there, casting their gaze down at him and he didn’t even know. He at least knew his brother Vegas was there, for Requiem had made sure he was dead before leaving his seemingly lifeless body to decay. As for his other brother and sister, Bolero and Minuet, and his parents, he had no idea where they were at these days. Not that he cared, because he couldn’t care less for those backstabbing adversaries. In fact, he bluntly hoped they were dead and he was the only one left still alive so he could laugh in their faces when they met again, if they met again that was. The thought of him being the last Fatalis member still breathing brought a deviant, crooked smile to his lips.
Those assholes would have had it coming anyway. The depraved joy this thought brought to Requiem made him laugh deeply, echoing shortly off into the trees.

Alder cursed under his breath as he hauled his heavy body up the dark, ice covered hill. It had taken three years for him to join a pack and now that he was part of one he was still finding himself in the unclaimed lands more often than not. He supposed it was nobody’s fault but his own, it seemed like the lands of the free had some kind of hold on him and he couldn’t stay away. Although he loved the wild lands he was fully dedicated to his pack. He liked being a member of Raekerin, they were strong not only as a group but from what he had seen each individual was a force to be reckoned with in one way or another.
He had been heading back to the pack lands for the night when he caught the scent of a pack member he hadn’t met yet, Requiem. He knew he was part of the wolverine regime and it was about time the commander got acquainted with the soldiers in his regiment. The night was frigid and windy but the stars were out in full force, not that Alder ever paid much attention to the stars, they just served as a light source as far as he was concerned.
The dark coated wolf was just a shadow in the dim light, his features were hidden shadows. His bright yellow eyes were the only part of him that caught the light. As he reached the top of the hill he took a look around at the view. He had to admit it was something to take in; he had never been on the hill at night before. The forest was like a dark shadowy abyss below the stars. ‘Back to business’ he thought to himself as he scanned the hilltop for the wolf he had been tracking.
The white wolf blended well with the snow, it wasn’t until he laughed that Alder caught sight of him. He padded towards the male. Stealth was not his strong point, especially in winter. With each of his steps the snow crunched and collapsed under his weight “What the hell are you laughing at?” he said light heartedly with a small laugh, he didn’t mean anything by it nor did he actually care what Requiem was laughing at. He stopped and sat down a few feet away from the other brute. “Requiem isn’t it?” he asked.

He swiveled an ear as backwards as it would go to better hear the random, gentle crunching noises. They were very faint though, so faintly heard that Req wondered if he was just hearing things. For a minute he ignored it and continued becoming lost in his train of thought. It was the second set of crunches, much louder now, that broke the silence again and derailed that train of thought. Now he knows he wasn’t just hearing things.
He turned his head and almost instantly his gaze shifted and stuck harshly in the direction in which he had come from only several minutes before, waiting for whoever else was there to show up on the top of the hill where he was. The smell of evergreen was so strong, but the stench this stranger carried was even stronger. Once the scent flooded the white male’s nostrils, he snorted instantly as to push out the intruding smell. It was pretty dark, but Requiem could still barely make out the silhouette of another male coming closer to him. Once he felt the other wolf was maybe only a few feet away, he averted his glowing blue eyes back to the sky.
’What are you laughing at?’ Suddenly filled his ears and, at first, the large white male wasn’t sure what to say in return. He didn’t want to sound like a psycho, but at the same time he never cared about what other wolves thought of him and why would he start caring now all of a sudden? He would never care about others’ opinions but his own, nor would he ever care how selfish of a trait that is. "Just the thought of dead family members. Gives me that warm, satisfied feeling deep inside.” He wasn’t being sarcastic in the least bit despite how it sounded. Now it was only a matter of time until more questions were asked.
He wasn’t aware of who this black male was, but then again he only knew that Zatenya was the leader of Raekerin from the way she held herself above others and spoke to-the-point. Req wasn’t great with names unless they make a strong impression on him. In his old packlands there was Valen, Sparrow, and Lightbringer, for example. Valen had been his best friend and they saved each others’ lives multiple times since they were only mere months old, but then he disappeared. Sparrow fought alongside him and had killed with him, thus becoming his ally despite her crazed bloodlust. Lightbringer was the wolf who was stupid enough to interrupt the adrenaline-filled spar between him and Sparrow, two wolves who, when in the moment, would be glad to kill anything and will stop at nothing until the deed was done. Needless to say, his fate was sealed the second he thought he could take on two wolves and live.
Yawning now, his attention fell back to this black male who joined his current stargazing hobby. Apparently he knew Requiem’s name, which made Req curious as to how he knew about him. He didn’t find it creepy in the least bit. Instead, he was quite pleased he was already making some kind of unknown reputation in these lands. "Sure, that’s me. How do you know my name? I have no idea who you are.” He didn’t intend to sound rude or careless, he was blunt about most matters. If there was something he wanted, he would take it. If there were questions he wanted answered, he would make sure they were answered. Otherwise he wouldn’t be satisfied, and an unsatisfied Requiem meant an annoyed and potentially violent Requiem.

‘Just the thought of my dead family members gives me that warm satisfied feeling deep inside’ normally a response like that would take someone off guard but Alder had always made a point of staying out of the personal problems of others, he didn’t know anything about this fellow’s family and he didn’t care to learn. The thought of his own family members came to mind. His brother was dead and for a long time Alder had carried the guilt of his death but over time he had simply become angry. It wasn’t his fault the little fool was stupid enough to steal from an alpha, and if it wasn’t for him Alder wouldn’t have become an exile from his family’s pack. The scrawny fool deserved to be dead. As for the rest of his family he didn’t know where they were but they had never been close so it was no concern of his.
The thoughts of his own family were interrupted when the Ivory male spoke again. Alder lifted his brow. This wolf didn’t beat around the bush about anything, not that it was a bad quality. “I make a point of knowing the names of the combatants in my regime. My name is Alder, I’m the wolverine commander for Raekerin” he explained. He looked the other male over, they were close to the same size, and he looked strong enough. He hadn’t seemed threatened by Alder at any point either, which likely meant he was confident in his ability to defend himself, all good qualities of a soldier.
So far Alder had no reason to dislike the male. He couldn’t help but wonder what he was doing way out in the middle of nowhere in the middle of the night. It almost seemed as though he was just here for the view. “Is the view in Raekerin not good enough for you? And isn’t star gazing a pup’s hobby?” he asked. Some might have taken his comments as insults but really they were half teasing and half legitimate questions. As a pup he remembered laying around with his sister and trying to find pictures in the star formations but he lost interest as he got older. The worst thing anyone could do was take offense to something Alder said, it just made it all the more fun for him to push buttons and on top of that he had no respect for anyone who took jokes too seriously.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,490,true] | [atrb=background,http://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae183/sigathkerr/Tables/artemistablemid.png] Artemis trotted around the unclaimed lands, slightly panicking inside. She had wandered off during the day with the intention of exploring the unclaimed lands and had accidently wandered too far from her new pack. At the rate she was going, she was going to be stuck out here for the night. She shivered at the thought. Ever since she joined her new pack, she preferred to sleep with them and not alone, not after so many nights of sleeping alone.
The wind shifted suddenly, allowing a fresh breeze to cross her muzzle. She paused in her tracks as she inhaled the scent. There were two wolves nearby, and not two that she recognized. Granted, they could very well be from her own pack as she had not met everyone there, but she wasn’t sure. She remained frozen on the spot unsure if she should approach the other wolves or if she should try and return to her pack or find someplace to sleep for the night out in the unclaimed lands.

[bg=000000][atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,413,true] | [atrb=background,http://i54.tinypic.com/20a8ewl.jpg] Requiem’s own family turned out to be a huge disgrace to him and his pride. He would never mention them or speak their names again, nor would he even consider them to be what his family once was. Families are supposed to consist of love, affection, understanding, patience, all that good stuff. The Fatalis family, however, was a completely different story. His father was out of his mind, and one of his brothers was just as insane, if not more. Both blood-lusting bastards who never had a second thought about any of their actions, or a second thought to what any of their actions would bring them in the end. He figured Vegas would never have seen his death coming from his own brother. But alas, that was his fate, and he couldn’t escape it. He was relieved his father and mother left before he had the chance to kill his father as well.
Long story short, he hated them. He once had some scrap of love floating around for them, but that never lasted long. So he left, like he did with everything apparently, and ended up in two different worlds before coming to Frostbite. He found that there was never any consistency in anything, so to never be disappointed when nothing lasted. That was what he currently lived by. Now he was here. At the top of a hill at midnight sitting beside a complete stranger who was apparently supposed to be his captain. If there was one thing he remembered from the years and months before, it was that he had somewhat a hard time taking orders that were barked to him. Maybe this time he’d try to change and just ignore it and do as he was told until he could climb up the ranks.
"Alder, eh?...Well it’s nice to meet you, Sir Captain Alder.” This time there was a bit of bitterness in his words, but didn’t intend for it to be directed at Alder. It was his bitterness of having to take orders from another wolf that bothered him now. He heaved a heavy sigh. Well, now all he hoped for was Alder at least not be a total prick. He understood the strictness he probably had to maintain as a leader, Requiem’s been there before, but not to overdo it. That kind of stuff annoyed him to no end and didn’t exactly gain any leader the respect they wish for. At least not true respect, maybe fake respect that’s acted out of fear due to the cruelty of the captain.
Then the other male basically called him a pup for gazing at the stars. To this, he rose a brow but only looked upwards to continue examining the stars as he spoke. "Does that explain why you’re here as well?” His glowing blue eyes met Alder’s yellow ones and smirked, followed by a brief laugh. Two can play this game, bud.
OOC;; Sorry, Artemis! I didn't know you posted, but I'm sure Alder will include you in his next post. (:

Alder looked a little taken off guard at being called ‘sir captain Alder’. He expected respect and if he didn’t receive it there would obviously be punishment of some type but there was no need to be overly formal when they were ‘off duty’. “You can just call me Alder or captain if you want to be formal” he said with a shrug. He had sensed the slight bitterness in the other male’s voice, but took no offence. Had someone else received his current rank he would have felt similar, he liked to be in charge.
For a second he thought perhaps Requiem had taken offence to his comment but thankfully he just shot a comment back at the commander. Alder laughed and opened his mouth to make another comment but as he did the wind shifted and brought the scent of a female with it. He got to his feet and looked around, there was nobody in sight but the smell returned with another gust of wind. This time the brute was able to pick up on the fact that that the smell was that of a pack mate although he didn’t think it was one he had met. He turned to the other male for a second to see if he had picked up on the other wolf’s presence as well.
For a second he considered howling to get Artemis’ attention but this wasn’t pack land and it might have attracted unwanted attention. Without a word the commander got to his feet and walked in the general direction of the other wolf. He glanced down the slope and noticed the white female standing in place. She was looking in his direction so she must have known the two males were there. If she had known they were there why didn’t she make herself known? He wondered but shrugged the thought off “Nothing to be afraid of. You’re from Raekerin aren’t you?” he called down, finding himself having to raise his voice over the wind. There was always a chance that he was wrong about what pack the female was from and he wanted to confirm his suspicion before he trusted her fully. He couldn’t help but wonder what she was doing all the way out here alone in the middle of the night, such things were much more dangerous for females than they were males.
ooc: sorry if this post isn't verry good lol

She slowly made her way over the rocks and up the hill. Her body was definitely not made for this! It preferred the hard snow and ice of her native homeland. “I’m new to Raekerin. My name is Artemis, maybe I ask what your names are?” she asked.
Both wolves she was making her way towards were quite larger than she was. She just hoped that they were indeed friendly and they wouldn’t hurt her. I was exploring the surrounding area this afternoon and I somehow managed to get myself lost. I can’t seem to find my way back, she admitted sheepishly. For her, everything looked the same. She knew that if she didn’t get back to the pack soon, it would be a very long night out for her, and not a safe one. This place didn’t look exactly safe at night. She knew members from other packs roamed out here at night and it wasn’t safe for her to stay, but she would if she had no choice. She shivered slightly as the wind began to pick up. She quickly made her way over to the other two wolves.
