There was a harsh chill in the night air and there was a strong wind that stung Olive right to the skin. Normally the fae tried to see the positive side of winter but at the moment it was difficult. She stopped near the top of the glacier looking at the moon lit valley below, it was beautiful but at that moment winter’s beauty hardly seemed worth the cold. She flattened her ears to her skull to keep the wind out, the last thing she needed was to lose the tips of her ears to frost bite.
Her original plan was to head out and get the lay of the land, it would be important if she got her desired rank of scout. The glacier was the last stop on her list of places to check out before she headed back to the dens for the night but the temperature had dropped considerably after the sun went down. Olive sat, keeping her tail close to her side, she could hardly feel it anymore it was so cold. Normally she made a point of keeping an upbeat attitude but she was miserable and she expressed it with a soft growl to herself. There was no way she would make it back to the dens and from what she could see there was no shelter.
With one more grumble to herself she forced herself to her feet and set to work digging a hole in the deep snow. It was a trick her father had told her about, he had been a loner all his life, save the few months he had taken to care for his otherwise orphaned puppies. The crusty old brute eventually abandoned her but he had given her the skills to survive first. Once the hole was deep enough she stepped inside and curled into a tight ball with her tail over her nose. This technique worked best when it was snowing because then she would eventually be covered up as well making it even warmer but it got her out of the wind so it served its purpose. She already felt warmer, her eyelids were getting heavy but she didn’t want to sleep she just wanted to get warm and then head back.
After a few minutes of fighting it she eventually drifted off. As time went by the wind caused some snow to drift, partially covering her and making her virtually invisible to anyone who would have come near and the wind kept her scent down. Her sleep was deep but not calm, the fact that she was far from the dens plagued her subconscious with nightmares of freezing to death or encountering larger predators and wolves from rival packs. She whimpered in her sleep faintly.

ooc;hope you don't mind, and I'm having her show up a few hours before morning light, and than morning. Sorry it's kinda plain. ....i don't want your remedy[/size] Wandering in the silver light of the moon, boldly following the outline of the glacier she too was trying to get a better lay of the land. Being very mindful of paw's reaches the moon's company was surely nice to guide the way, but the clear meant dropping temperatures. The icy hands of the wind rumpled against her thick cream pelt. Winter was not the nicest of things, and at the moment she wouldn't mind it gone. It wasn't like winter was a mate she could break up with. If only, and a tiny smirk perked on her blond maw. The cold was here, and the female was use to the cold, born almost to live in the below freezing weather with ancestors of the north knowing long winters. Suck it up, Silently she thought, with a rough shake of her frame, eyelids fluttered, and she drew her body with the wind against her spine.
Thoughts of heading back entered mind, but the walk back to the dens would be more unpleasant then staying out till the morning sun rose. The female could not sleep any more, and she had really hoped to get to know her packmates better, but was avoiding it. There were quite a few other females, and the chances where high of losing her temper with them. Not always, but sometimes there was just certain way the same gender could push buttons. A gentle sigh tugged from chocolate lips. None the less she was still lonely. A wolf was a pack creature for a reason, and who didn't want someone decent to talk to. It had been so long since she'd had a conversation. Sitting down in the thick white crust, she hunched down to windblock against the fierce wind, eyes upon the valley, lost in her private thoughts.
Soon the light of the morning sun could be seen at the edge of the world. A silent yawn stretched jaws happy to see it's returning to this part of the world. A serene expression lit on blond visage watching the sunrise on the new day.[/left]

The snow had fallen during the night, leaving her completely hidden from view. She had tried not to fall asleep but apparently that had been too much to ask. The warmth of being in her little dug out was such a relief from the harsh wind that sleep had been unavoidable. She groaned and lifted her head, popping up out of the fresh snow like a rabbit sticking it’s head out of a hole. When she came to the surface she found herself looking at another wolf who was so close she could have pocked her with the end of her nose. Olive barked in surprise, the other wolf obviously hadn’t seen her because she had been buried under the snow and for that same reason Olive hadn’t noticed the other she wolf’s scent.
Olive realized that she was still just a head sticking out from the seemingly untouched snow and got to her feet, shaking off the blanket of snow that had covered her so well “I’m sorry I didn’t know you were there” she said as she calmed down from the initial shock of discovering that she wasn’t alone. She recognized the other female from the pack meeting a few days prior but she had never gotten a chance to say hello or introduce herself. Once she had shaken the snow from her coat she stepped out from her cozy little hole that she had dug to stand on the top of the snow, the wind hadn’t subsided much but with the sun coming up it was a little warmer than it had been the night before. “I don’t think we have been introduced yet, My name is Olive” she said in hopes that the other wolf wouldn’t think she was too strange for crawling out of a hole in the ground. Normally Olive didn’t have much to say but she felt as though she should explain herself “It was freezing last night, digging that hole was the only thing I could do to keep warm” she laughed. Normally her coat kept the cold out but after so many hours of exploring out in the frigid wind it had become too much for her.

....i don't want your remedy [/size] Very slowly the sun began rising higher and higher adding strokes of color on the beautiful, white valley below. It was beautiful, and she decided waking up to the dawn wasn't all bad. Gaze studied hard 'pon the lit areas, the she wolf could see where the elk had been, as they began creeping back to the safety of the timber's cover. Triangle points perked high, eyes steady the instinct to follow making the right, front paw twitch. She shook the thought of a hunt from her mind, they were to far, much to far. Suddenly it was than a muffled growl grabbed her attention. The cream fae quickly spun 'round, turquoise pools searching for the source. A wrinkle creased against cream brows, the light mask now a face of bewilderment. In the next instant something began protruding from the snow, at the edge of her feet. Out of instinct she jumped back, tassel high, the brush of hair along shoulders standing high like porcupine quills. What the hell.. Passed through troubled mine. The something soon became a gray head. Muscles were strung tight as a bow, as the other wolf barked her own surpise. Brows furrowed deeper.
“I’m sorry I didn’t know you were there” Without thought body relaxed, and the cream mask smoothed, a little shock still in green-blue eyes, and she shrugged her shoulders. A short chuckle escaping from vocals. "Umm, that's all right." She managed with a little smile, reconizing the gray female from the pack meeting.
"Taima, pleasure to meet you Olive." She chimed, the fur atop her shoulders completed relaxing as she took a seat back on the ground to keep warm. Turquoise pools stared intently, a slight warmth in them, listening to her explain herself. Taima again shrugged her shoulders, laughing with Olive. "Well I'd say that was the smart thing to do, it's sad to say some wolves don't know that. I'm just sorry if I scared you." A thin smile steadied on chocolate lips, Olive was all right, despite the fact she had just started talking to her. "So, are you as hungry as me with this cold?" She asked, wondering if she wanted to hunt up some breakfast. Anything sounded good to Taima, and it would be a long walk to any where. She wanted something in her belly.[/left]

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=cellSpacing,0,true][atrb=cellPadding,0,true][atrb=width,470,true] | [atrb=background,http://i970.photobucket.com/albums/ae183/sigathkerr/Tables/olivetablemid.png] Olive couldn’t blame Taima for her initial reaction but she was glad when she saw the female relax. She couldn’t help but allow a small laugh escape her mouth as well, she could only imagine her pack mate’s surprise to see her pop out of the snow the way she had. “Nice to meet you too Taima, and no need to say you’re sorry. I think we were equally surprised to see each other” she assured her with another laugh. It had been a long time sense she had someone to laugh with, she had almost forgotten how good it felt. Her misery from the night before was long forgotten by now.
Taima asked if she was hungry. She hadn’t eaten at all the day before; she had been too distracted with exploring her new home. It wasn’t until it was brought to her attention that the shewolf realized that she was in fact very hungry. Olive nodded “Yes now that you mention it” she said with a nod as she felt her stomach groan silently. If nothing else she was well rested now, and despite being quite hungry she was prepared for a morning hunt “Shall we go see what we can find in that valley down there?” she asked. Olive was slightly shocked by her own chattiness but she supposed it was largely due to the fact that she was excited to finally have a pack. Over time she would likely go back to being her quiet self but hopefully she would make a few friends before then.
She yawned and dipped down in a bowing position to stretch out her front legs, sprawling her toes out before returning to a standing position. Being curled up in such a tight ball all night had left her a little stiff but she was young and she would limber up in no time. She looked to the other wolf, she seemed like a nice enough fea so far. Olive had grown up with only sisters so she knew well enough how catty some female’s could be with members of the same gender but it was a personality trait that only effected Olive when she was given a reason to dislike someone.
