text | "speech" | thoughts "someone else's speech"
The smell of other wolves surround her as she wanders near the shore, the cooling breeze making it's way through her thick, white coat. She lowers her nose to the ground, trotting along a small path quietly. Inhaling slightly, a smile curves on her lips, her pearly whites slightly showing over her bottom lip. There have been a couple others to come and go, leaving their scents behind to linger over the soft ground. Small, white paws leave imprints behind in the sand and a small breeze ruffles her coat, sending loose hairs swiftly into the wind.
Pericle's small eyes scan the shore, sensing no one but herself, and picks up a small run towards the water, longing to take a drink from it. When she reached the edge, she peered into the water, her fox-like nose touching the surface softly. Small ripples expanding, stretching themselves out over the small waves that washed up every so often. I wonder why the water is so warm? Hesitating a bit, she slowly dipped her paw into the water, holding her snow white tail out behind her. This was all just pure juvenile curiousity
She shied away when her paw entered the water, realizing that the water was actually extremely cold. Peri shook her head in disappointment, and turned around walking along the shore. She stayed far enough away from the shore so the water wouldn't touch her, but it felt nice to walk along the shore; allowing her thoughts to be uninterrupted by foolish things.
"Hey, Pericle! Wanna go down to the beach?" Cints voice echoed in my head, a smile forming on my face. "No way, water is dangerous... haven't you learned anything Cinny?" A childish laugh rang in the air. "Peri, haven't you realized that I NEVER pay attention during those lessons?" Pericle rolled her eyes. Cints was so immature and young, she would never know what real life was like. A rude comment came from Peri's mouth, aiming to offend Cints a bit. "Well maybe you should, Cints. You're going to get yourself killed one day." A low whine came from Pericle's muzzle as she recalled the statement. If only she had known that this would soon prove to be true. "Oh, come on Periwiiinkle! You're always so wussy, stop doing that and we'll go play on the beach!" Pericle rolled her eyes again, a low growl forming in her chest. "NO CINTS!" She snapped at the cinnamon colored female, her nose crinkled and her teeth bared. Instantly, Cints flipped over on her back whining softly. She knew Pericle ruled over her in the hierarchy, and she would never dare to go against her wishes.
Pericle whimpered softly, tucking her fuzzy tail between her legs, her eyes filling with depression. How dearly she missed her best friend, her sister, her everything. She often thought about all the things she could have done to save Cints, all the opportunities she had, but never took them. Her ears fell to the side, and she whimpered more suddenly feeling very lonely and empty.
Her ears then perked, and fear replaced the sadness. Her amazing sense of smell had picked up a new scent, one of a male. Pericle looked around herself cautiously, getting ready to fight if she had too. She wasn't going to wait for the danger to come to her without vocalizing something. She titled her head back, and opened her jaws slightly, an ear-splitting howl emerging from her muzzle. She wanted this male to find her, it would at least provide her some company, but she always kept it in the back of her head that this could be the end of her. Something Cints and I should have done...
