His steps were slow but purposeful. Every movement he made was silent and unnoticeable, his huge black body hidden in the shadows of the trees he lingered behind. A disturbance in his usually black and buried lifestyle had suddenly presented itself and it was an opportunity Dev wouldn’t pass up. In the hazy distance, his cold black stare caught quick movements which made the fur along his spine stand on end. His stare intensified as his massive black head dropped to align itself with his shoulders. All movements ceased, with the exception of his black paw hanging in mid air.

Dev shot himself forward as quick as silver without making it obvious he was flying straight for his prey. His colossal black body hurdled forward and his first move was what he was best known for, a full on attack. The young deer was puzzled and unaware that she was being stalked from the beginning. Thus, when Dev exposed his full black from the deer scrambled to gain stability and floundered a bit. Dev went straight for the side of the deers neck and bit down with crushing force right above her shoulder in the crevice of the base of his neck. Dev used his inserted jaws as a structure to pull himself forward, his front legs going directly under hers to knock her to the ground. The deer kicked, getting quite a good stab at his chest and stomach. With a booming snarl, he made one last quick move and finished her off.

Breathing heavily, he slowly brought his body to his feet as he watched the deer twitch lifelessly underneath him. He snorted in disgust and the creatures pathetic nature to give up a fight so easily. His stomach growled in protest and just as he bent to rip off the best flesh on the deer, a twig snapped in the distance.

His head flung up and his lips curled into a threatening snarl. He took a single step to place himself directly over his kill to protect it. Whoever this was, wasn't getting any of his meal. "Take another step closer and you'll wind up just like my dinner" His voice was deep as a loud growl followed his words.

"Is that any way to speak to your ascendancy, Devaraja?" The tone of a finer gentleman stressed with a slight threat in equivalent to a master's growing irritation to the pet that threatened to bite. As smooth-toned and well aged with experienced as he sounded and came to be, Zealot was a fierce beast that was only tameable by the Alphess herself. One could suppose that was why he was made her adviser. He wasn't the largest of males, but he could fight like the best of them if not more so. He was once Valkyr's renowned Sentinel, brought up in ranks by Pynthi's will, herself. It still didn't mean he couldn't get his paws dirty, and he certainly would not pass up such a chance when it showed at least its hide. He was always quick to jump in on a tense situation; his insanity however made it completely impossible to tell whether he wanted to help resolve it or fire it up with his excellent, forever-composed nature. He was the man we all gossiped about having dozens of bodies in his freezers deep within his mansion. He was the one who always passed out lone pieces of candy, or invited you into his home to listen to him play his grand piano, or offer to you the permission to ride his polo horses on every sunny day.
And he was always the one who killed you in the end.

"Oh, calm down, sir Devaraja.. No one's going to take your.." His voice lightened with a taunting whine before it dragged and stalled on in a pause as he came into better view, tilting his head downward and to the right as he amusingly tried to identify what it was the male Beta before him were trying to "protect". "Er.. Meal. I'm certainly not, anyway.. No need to "protect" it like some feral, odd feline." His voice stretched on smoothly and slowly as he raised his head as if teaching him a lesson. "It's very unbecoming of a high-ranked Valkyr canine." He slowly judged after a swift and adorable little "tsk" of his canines and his tongue's cooperation together. "Besides, it's dead anyway. What are you protecting as if it has life?" His voice became less diligent, deepening with boredom as he came onto more modern terms that others would understand easier. His high posture lowered with a slight hunch, slipping down into an insane stalking as his sage eyes bore into the male's own before him. As quick as this horrid, unacceptable drop in elegance appeared it had ended, being replaced with the usual composer of the "old man". He was as predictable as flipping a coin.

Completely voiding the warning given to him earlier, Zealot only stepped forward with a high posture, head held high and shoulders squared sharply with elegance as his paws loosely flopped at the wrists like a prancing equine's trot. He casually progressed into the clearing before circling the male slowly without half a care in the world. "Anyhow, this old man - contrary to "popular" belief - can catch his own prey. And so I have no need to steal from the poor and give to the rich. Or so and so.." He paused as he caught the error in his attempt at reciting an old saying before shrugging it off. Sounded good enough. For him, anyway. It was amusing how often he referred to himself as "old", being that he was in the prime of any male's life. He then progressed over to the shadowy stream beside him, plunging his eyes into its pristine waters as he crouched at its edge with a statue's stillness. His eyes danced with their own sweet traditions, right up until his pupils tightened with the madness of a hunting predator, sending him leaping into the river with a great precision. A flurry of clear water lashed out at and around him onto the bank, covering up most of the submerged action. It was truly just a few seconds that it took until he rose up and dragged onto the bank, a large salmon in his jaws firmly as it tried to break away. Dropping it harshly to the ground, his left massive-boned paw struck at the fish's "neck", cracking it to the ground with the fierce sadistic nature of the sub-alpha. With that, Zealot only looked up at the male a while away from him with a half-lidded look.
"I only come here for the fish."
